About Polished Pages
“I decided to become an editor because I love seeing writers fawn over their own creation."
-Polished Pages Founder, Editor & Coach
THE EDITOR BEHIND POLISHED PAGES
Welcome! I am an editor and writing coach with a love for juicy YA novels, epic fantasies, and spiritual tell-alls. I'm also a devoted academic who takes pleasure (and pride) in seeing students succeed in their writing endeavours.
WHO I REALLY AM
I am an advocate for ingenuity, painstakingly precise, and brimful of passion. I am a crafty storyteller, thoughtful writing coach, and scrupulous editor.
I am a creative who cares.
Words. All words.
Polished Pages exists because of my deep fondness for language, for transmitting ideas, and for telling a story that's yearning to be told. There are no limits as to how I can exercise these elements. I edit all written works but specialize in:
✔ Young/new adult fiction
✔ Fantasy and urban fantasy
✔ New age nonfiction (e.g. topics around spirituality, oracle/tarot decks + booklets)
✔ Theses and dissertations
A piece of writing should make someone feel something. It should inspire, stir sentiments, linger like the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
That’s why I take the time to understand you—what you stand for, what you hope to achieve, and who your audience is. Your desired impact is all that matters.
Poor writing and a dishonest writer's voice can be detected within seconds. Rushed storytelling and one-dimensional characters wreck a potentially provocative narrative. My promise is to evade these audience-killers and work together to create a quality, polished work.
Are you struggling with a writing project? I can help you meet deadlines, overcome writer's block, and create your very best work. Learn more about my coaching services.
MY JOURNEY AS A WRITER, EDITOR & COACH
During my journalism BA, I contributed to various school, online, and community news publications, but I soon realized I was veering away from my true passion: fiction. Prior to graduation, I took a year off to study scriptwriting, where I wrote and pitched an original series to TV networks CBC and CTV, who expressed interest in the project. At the time, I was also hired as a pilot writer (later co-producer) for a series in development.
I was then launched into the world of digital marketing, where I honed my skills in copywriting and took on roles as a content manager and editor. It was through this fast-paced agency experience that I learned to appreciate the art of writing for one's desired audience. I left the 9-5 to launch Polished Pages, quickly embracing my innate abilities as an editor.
As a fiction enthusiast, I was driven to pursue a Master's in Creative Writing, during which I expanded my services to coaching. There's nothing that fulfills me more than helping aspiring authors to develop and refine their story. But my love for academia and flair for the English language had also inspired me to help students produce their best work, namely theses and dissertations.
I discovered my passion for storytelling at a young age, but it was in the seventh grade, under the guidance of my eccentric Irish English teacher, when my love for the written word was truly founded.
In October 2020, I released my debut novel The Wise One, the first book in the urban fantasy saga, The Scottish Scrolls. On launch week on Amazon, it hit #2 in Fantasy for Young Adults, as well as ranked #1 in three categories: Teen & Young Adults, Fairy Tales & Folkore for Young Adults, and Fiction About Girls & Women for Young Adults.
Besides English, I speak French, Italian, and Spanglish. When I'm not coaching or editing, I'm travelling with my favourite human—my high-school-sweetheart-turned-husband, Andy—and obsessing over my pet bunny, Magic, and rescue pup, Nessie.
